School meetings and appeals

Having an advocate attend meetings with you as a parent of a child with
special needs, can be invaluable. We will assist you in communicating with
school board administrators in a way that is both assertive and
collaborative, and will take detailed notes for your records.

Revision of a current IEP

We provide assistance and training through workshops on current
standards for development, program planning, and implementation of the
IEP, and will show you how to provide useful input for your child's IEP.

Statement of Needs

We will write your child's Needs Statement; an important tool for ensuring
that your child's needs are met by securing appropriate programs and
services.
What clients have said
about our services
Good morning Karen,

I am just writing to let you know the
outcome of the IPRC meeting. Good news,
my son has been placed in an ASD class
in a school in Mississauga for this coming
September.  There are 8 children total in
the class with their teacher and 2 teacher
assistances.  We had the orientation at the
school last Thursday and am quite excited
for my son.

I want to thank you again for your help and
for writing the Needs Statement – all of it
made a difference.  I hope that everything
is going well with you and your family.

Again Karen, thank you very much.  Have
a great summer.  If anything else comes up
or it I need further help or information I
hope you will not mind if I contact you.

Sincerely,
Your client

Hi Karen!

Just to update on my son's progress. He
has settled very well at his new school
placement in Oshawa. In last ten weeks I
have not had a single call to pick him up
for his behavior. His planned reduced time
(half day) has been withdrawn by the
principal based on his response so far.  I
am so happy that I pushed for the change
of school. I wish I had taken this step three
years earlier. He is doing very well and
doing lot more academic work as
compared to his old placement. He is now
looking forward to work and asking for
more work. I know I was hesitant to take
this step but I am glad that in the end I did.
Thanks for your support and see you
some time.

Karen, you are a fabulous advocate!

Thank you very much for the IEP
consultation.  It very well represents my
daughter's needs and reflects the
problems of the school.  I like very much
about the safety plan, social situation plan
and teachers' low expectations.
Awesome!  It's long road for me to
educate myself.  Please resend your
workshop details.  Thanks again.

Hi Karen,

All the information you are giving me is
great.  Thank you so much.  Talk to you
soon.

Hi Karen,

I really enjoyed the workshop – I found it to
be very informative, and it helped me
figure out what steps I need to take to help
my son transition into the school system. I
know that I will be referring to the handouts
frequently. I have been pretty
overwhelmed thinking how much work I
have to do to advocate for (my son) in the
school system, but you helped give me
some direction to take.

Hello Karen

Thank you very much for your professional
assistance at the IPRC meeting, it was a
great comfort having you there and having
been at your workshop before, added a
more personal touch for me.

Your minutes of the meeting are very
accurate, and I look forward to our paths
crossing again in the future.
